Fixture: St Edmund Arrowsmith vs Sutton Academy (St Helens)  Venue: Home  Final Score: St Edmund Arrowsmith 22 – 6 Sutton Academy

SEA's Y9 rugby team produced a fantastic second‑half comeback to secure an impressive victory over a strong Sutton Academy side in the North West Counties competition.  The opening half was a tight and physical contest, with Sutton Academy showing their strength and organisation early on. Despite determined defensive work from St Edmund, Sutton managed to edge ahead, and we went into the break trailing 4–6.

A motivating and focused team talk led by Miss Walsh at half-time proved to be a turning point. The players returned to the field with renewed energy, discipline, and confidence. What followed was an outstanding display of attacking rugby: strong carries, quick ball movement, and relentless pressure allowed us to take full control of the game. The second half belonged entirely to SEA, who ran in a series of well‑worked tries and held Sutton scoreless for the remainder of the match. Their dominance earned them a deserved 22 – 6 victory.

Man of the Match was Ethan Butler.  Ethan delivered an exceptional performance at loose forward, leading the defensive line, making crucial tackles, and driving the team forward throughout. A fully deserved recognition for a standout display.

The team now looks ahead to their next North West Counties fixture this Wednesday, where they will travel away to Wade Deacon. Confidence is high, and the squad will be eager to build on this excellent result.
