Year 10 Pupils Experience Life at St John Rigby College, Orrell During Taster Day

A group of Year 10 pupils recently attended a taster day at St John Rigby College in Orrell, designed to give them a first-hand experience of what it’s like to study at the college. The day provided a fantastic opportunity for students to explore a variety of subjects, engage with specialist teaching staff, and get a feel for the college’s vibrant learning environment.

Pupils took part in interactive sessions across a wide range of subject areas, including sciences, humanities, arts, health and social care, and more. As well as sampling lessons, they had the chance to explore the modern facilities, ask questions about college life, and gain valuable insight into what studying at post-16 level involves.

The event aimed to help students make informed choices about their future education by exposing them to new subjects and settings beyond the secondary school classroom. Many pupils commented on how the experience helped reduce any anxieties about moving on to college and gave them a clearer sense of their aspirations.

Pupil Quote:
"I didn’t know what to expect before coming, but everyone was so welcoming. The lessons were really interesting and different from school. It’s made me excited about the idea of coming to college." – Year 10 pupil

The day was a huge success, leaving many pupils inspired and more confident about their next steps after Year 11.
