This is a special letter to thank all of you for your amazing support at the end of last week when Mrs Doolan organised help for the people of Ukraine.  We are truly humbled by everyone’s efforts, which brings such comfort in these difficult times.

On Wednesday, Mrs Doolan got in touch with The Hamlet-Three Towers who were working alongside The Polskie Centrum Edukacji i Kultury in Warrington. The Polish school had sent out an appeal to the wider community for supplies and had organised a lorry to deliver those supplies to Poland.  Communication was then sent out to our school community and within 24 hours the reception area was inundated with essential equipment.

The increasing volume of contributions made it necessary for Mrs Ruane (School Chaplain) to sort the goods with members of the chaplaincy group for hours after school.

Following a steady stream of donations, the equipment was ready to be transported to Warrington on Friday afternoon. The school minibus and a large van (owned by one of our site maintenance staff, Mr Shield) were packed full of the essential toiletries, nappies, wipes etc.  Mrs Lennon and Mrs Chapman drove the minibus to meet Mrs Doolan and Mrs Whitlow in Warrington.  Several pupils also gave up their Saturday to help.  The event was also documented in one of the local papers.

This was a magnificent effort and I wish to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved. Please see photographs of the efforts below..

We are using the CAFOD prayer below in school this week and thought you may want to say it at home as well.

Loving God, we pray for the people of Ukraine, for all those suffering or afraid, that you will be close to them

and protect them.

We pray for world leaders, for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world that in this moment of crisis, we may reach out in solidarity to our brothers and sisters in need.

May we walk in your ways so that peace and justice become a reality for the people of Ukraine and for all the world.

Amen
