Yesterday our Y7 rugby team travelled over to Warrington to face St Gregory's in the North West Cup and came away with a 28-24 victory!
St Gregory's raced into a 6-0 lead after just 40 seconds, however our team regrouped and thanks to a 1st--half hat-trick from James McCabe, earned a 16-6 lead into half time.
The 2nd half started exactly the same as the first half ended, with further tries from Oscar Frederiksen and Will Doyle to give us a 28-6 lead. St Gregory's then got their act together and in the last 5 minutes fought back to 28-24.
In the last set of the game, pinned on our own try line, we needed somebody to step up... and Joel Sumner did just that! With less than a minute left, Joel completed 4 one-on-one tackles in a row and forced an error from their star player, and the final whistle was blown.
We face Sir Thomas Boteler in the quarter final next week.
CONGRATULATIONS to the TEAM and good luck next week! #Inspirationalactions
