The Maths Department are very proud of our Y10 students who attended the Stock Market Challenge at the

University of Manchester yesterday (27th Feb).

WHAT A BRILLIANT DAY!

Lois, Chanelle, Khaya, James and Jayden finished in 2nd place against 20 other schools.

Their final stock market profit was £60,100 and was narrowly beaten by £700.

The day involved students taking on a range of job roles from "Media Analyst" to "Finance Analyst" looking at market trends and using information to determine which stocks they should invest in.  During the challenge, students use their maths and business knowledge and develop their team working and problem solving skills.  This is a great opportunity to make students aware of the world of finance and will undoubtedly leave students with a greater understanding of how to examine data to make business decisions and how these skills can be used at university or in the workplace, whichever career path they choose.

The teamwork, effort, and desire from all our students involved was exemplary.

Well done to Lois, Chanelle, Khaya, James and Jayden for representing our school so magnificently!
