Our Eco-Group, led by Mr. McGuire, has regular meetings where we come up with ideas and plans to decide how and when we can put them into action. Always thinking of the future, we also aim to recruit some Y7 pupils so that when our current Y11 members leave, we will still have as many members as we do now.

Recently though, our proudest achievement has been the award of the prestigious Green Flag Status, making us the only secondary school in Wigan to hold it. In the next few weeks, the awareness we have raised across the curriculum will hopefully continue to position St Edmund Arrowsmith as an example for all other aspiring schools.

I asked Mr. McGuire how he felt about our successful application and he said, "This is a great achievement for our school and we will certainly keep on helping the environment as we still have many plans to put into action."

So one of our goals is complete but there are still many more left.

This year, our priorities will be the reduction of energy wastage and the elimination of the litter from our corridors, classrooms and yards. So don't forget to turn off those computers and find your nearest rubbish bin.
