GCSE Mathematics provides a platform for progression onto A’ Level mathematics and further study at university. A good understanding of mathematics at GCSE level is essential for success at A’ Level.

Mathematics allows greater access to other areas of study including science, technology and computing where mathematics underpins the course content.

Mathematics opens up a wide range of diverse career pathways including business, engineering, science, insurance, media, computing, education and accountancy.

Those who qualify in mathematics are in the fortunate position of having a wide range of career choices. The abilities to use logical thought, to formulate a problem in a way which allows for computation and decision, to make deductions from assumption and to use advanced concepts, are all enhanced by a mathematics degree course. It is for this reason that mathematicians are increasingly in demand. The most recent surveys show graduates in mathematics and computer science at the top of the earning lists six years after graduation.
